In April, Elvira Notari. Beyond Silence by Valerio Ciriaci will embark on a tour of screenings and events across the United States, with stops in New York, Rochester, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, San Diego, Detroit, and other cities.
This marks a particularly significant step in the international rediscovery of Elvira Notari. More than one hundred years ago, the filmmaker brought Neapolitan cinema to the American Little Italies without ever crossing the ocean herself. Today, in a way, that journey is finally being completed: the first feature-length film devoted to her work arrives in the United States and opens a new chapter in the circulation of her legacy.
The tour will open on 6 April in New York at Film Forum and will continue through universities, cineteche, and major cultural venues. At selected stops, the film will be accompanied by conversations with director Valerio Ciriaci, producer Antonella Di Nocera, members of the cast, and special guests.
Premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, Elvira Notari. Beyond Silence is directed by Valerio Ciriaci and produced by Parallelo 41 Produzioni, Awen Films, and Luce Cinecittà.
The tour is organised with the support of Regione Campania and Film Commission Regione Campania, together with the American partners involved in the initiative.
