Cristina Jandelli

Professor of Cinema, Photography, Radio, Television and Digital Media at the Università degli Studi di Firenze

She is Full Professor at the Dipartimento SAGAS of the Università degli Studi di Firenze, where she teaches Film History, Italian Cinema, and Theory and Analysis of Film and Television Language. She coordinates the PhD programme in Storia delle Arti e dello Spettacolo. Her publications include La scena pensante. Cesare Zavattini fra teatro e cinema (Bulzoni, 2002); Le dive italiane del cinema muto (L’Epos, 2006; CUE Press, 2019); Breve storia del divismo cinematografico (Marsilio, 2007); I protagonisti. La recitazione nel film contemporaneo (Marsilio, 2013); L’attore in primo piano (Marsilio, 2016); and Tre studi su Claudia Cardinale (Marsilio, 2022).

The National Committee for the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elvira Coda Notari was established with the aim of restoring the first woman director in Italian cinema, and her work, to their rightful central place.
