CSC – Cineteca Nazionale
The most important film archive in Italy and one of the leading film archives in Europe and worldwide.

The Cineteca Nazionale del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia is the largest film archive in Italy and one of the most important in the world. Together with the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema, it forms one of the two main divisions of the Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
Its primary activities include the preservation and promotion of the national film heritage: on the one hand, through the restoration and digitisation of works to be safeguarded and made accessible; on the other, through educational and outreach projects aimed at younger generations, with the goal of introducing audiences to film history and audiovisual culture, also through new technologies.
The Cineteca Nazionale del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia is the custodian of the cinematic memory of Elvira Coda Notari, whose surviving films it preserves, restores, and digitises.

Ongoing projects
The image education and film history project La Cineteca Nazionale va a scuola, active since 2022, aims to enhance the Italian film heritage preserved by the Cineteca Nazionale, giving these films new life through an interdisciplinary relationship with the subjects and teaching areas explored in schools of all levels, from primary school to upper secondary school, with a contemporary reading that encourages reflection on the cultural and social issues of the present.
The project includes screenings of classic films preserved by the Cineteca Nazionale, the availability of a teaching booklet dedicated to the films, and, in Rome, an in-class lesson for further study.
Among the films in the catalogue is also È piccerella by Elvira Coda Notari, accompanied by its teaching booklet.
The project includes screenings of È piccerella not only in Rome but also in Naples, in collaboration with USR Campania, and in Turin and Piedmont, in collaboration with Aiace Torino.
To take part in the project La Cineteca Nazionale va a scuola and organise school screenings of È piccerella, together with its teaching booklet, please contact Maria Coletti at cndidattica@fondazionecsc.it
The National Committee for the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elvira Coda Notari was established with the aim of restoring the first woman director in Italian cinema, and her work, to their rightful central place.
