21 and 25 June 2026, Bologna – Il Cinema Ritrovato
In the prestigious setting of Il Cinema Ritrovato, Carmela, la sartina di Montesanto (1916), a film by Elvira Notari, returns to the screen in the Ritrovati e Restaurati section. The surviving fragment of the work, restored in 2026 by CSC – Cineteca Nazionale, will be screened at Cinema Lumière – Sala Officinema/Mastroianni on 21 June at 6.30 pm and 25 June at 9.00 am. The 25 June screening will be accompanied by an introduction by Maria Coletti, film historian at Cineteca Nazionale, who will also present the box set dedicated to Elvira Notari.
29 May 2026, Rome – UnArchive Found Footage Fest
As part of UnArchive Found Footage Fest, on 29 May at 10.00 pm at Live Alcazar in Rome, Elvira will be presented, a live performance by Silvia Cignoli and Federica Foglia, produced by AAMOD in collaboration with CSC – Cineteca Nazionale. The work weaves together fragments from Elvira Notari’s films, home movies, and archival images, accompanied live by a score for electric guitar, electronics, and voice.

As part of the 39th edition of the Bolzano Film Festival, in the BFFB Special section, two events were dedicated to Elvira Notari at Capitol 2. On 16 April at 9.00 pm, screening of ’A Santanotte with live music; on 18 April at 6.15 pm, screening of the documentary Elvira Notari. Oltre il silenzio by Valerio Ciriaci.

As part of Marzo Donna 2026 – “Il tuo nome, Donna. Chi siamo e da dove siamo partite”, at the Cinema Metropolitan (6.00 pm), a free screening of Elvira Notari. Oltre il silenzio by Valerio Ciriaci, followed by a conversation with Teresa Armato, Councillor for Tourism and Productive Activities of the Comune di Napoli, Antonella Di Nocera (producer), Simona Frasca (ethnomusicologist), Antonella Monetti (performer and singer), and Cristina Vatielli (photographer).

The initiative forms part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elvira Notari and of the support promoted by the IIC di Londra for a series of screenings in the United Kingdom and Ireland of the documentary Elvira Notari: Beyond Silence, accompanied by events dedicated to the filmmaker and her legacy. From 19 to 27 March in Villasanta, Associazione Controluce dedicates to Elvira Notari a three-part programme of cinema, live music, and storytelling. The programme includes the screening of the documentary Elvira Notari – Oltre il silenzio by Valerio Ciriaci at Cineteatro Astrolabio on 19 March at 9.00 pm, the presentation of the novel Elvira by Flavia Amabile on 27 March at 5.00 pm at the Sala Congressi di Villa Camperio, and the screening of ’A Santanotte by Elvira Notari with live piano accompaniment by Rossella Spinosa, on 27 March at 9.00 pm, again at Cineteatro Astrolabio.

At Teatro Bolivar, an evening with the cinema of Elvira Notari: a double tribute to Italy’s first woman director, between a contemporary gaze and the origins. At 6.30 pm, screening of Valerio Ciriaci’s documentary, presented in Venice and returning from a long tour across Italy marked by packed theatres and sold-out screenings. This is followed by ‘A santanotte (1922) in cine-concert, with live original music by the Silent Frame Italia Ensemble, on a score by Michele Signore.
